Best Deal Home Group is based in Centerville and works in all 15 towns of Barnstable County, from the Cape Cod Canal to Provincetown.
Upper Cape
Bourne, MA
Bourne sits on both sides of the Cape Cod Canal, so homes deal with wind off Buzzards Bay and Cape Cod Bay. Roofs and siding on waterfront lots in Pocasset and Monument Beach take steady salt exposure, which makes corrosion-resistant fasteners and flashing worth the cost.
Villages: Buzzards Bay, Sagamore, Sagamore Beach, Pocasset, Cataumet, Monument Beach
Sandwich is the oldest town on Cape Cod, and the area along Route 6A falls inside the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District. Exterior changes visible from a public way there usually need approval from the town's historic committee before work starts.
Villages: Sandwich Village, East Sandwich, Forestdale
Falmouth has a long shoreline that runs from Buzzards Bay around to Vineyard Sound. Coastal homes see wind-driven rain and salt air, and Falmouth has its own local historic districts, so it pays to check requirements before changing a façade.
Villages: Woods Hole, North Falmouth, West Falmouth, East Falmouth, Teaticket, Waquoit, Hatchville
Mashpee has a large share of newer homes and seasonal properties around New Seabury and Popponesset. Many of these houses are now at the age where the original roofs, decks and windows need replacing at the same time.
Barnstable is our home town: our office is on Goose Point Road in Centerville. The north side of town along Route 6A is in the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District, while the south-side villages of Hyannis, Osterville and Cotuit have a mix of year-round homes and older summer cottages.
Villages: Centerville, Hyannis, Osterville, Cotuit, Marstons Mills, West Barnstable, Barnstable Village
Yarmouth Port, on the north side, is part of the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District and has many antique homes where trim and window details matter. South and West Yarmouth have a lot of mid-century capes and ranches that are good candidates for siding, roofing and window upgrades.
Villages: Yarmouth Port, South Yarmouth, West Yarmouth, Bass River
Dennis runs from Cape Cod Bay to Nantucket Sound, so houses on both shores get heavy salt exposure. The bay side of town falls inside the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District.
Villages: Dennis Village, East Dennis, South Dennis, West Dennis, Dennis Port
Brewster is entirely within the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District, so most visible exterior work needs to go through the local committee. Many homes sit in wooded lots where shade and moisture shorten the life of roofs and decks.
Villages: Brewster Village, East Brewster, West Brewster
Harwich Port and West Harwich face Nantucket Sound, where summer cottages and year-round homes sit close to the water. Outdoor showers, decks and cedar shingle repairs are typical projects for homes this close to the water.
Villages: Harwich Center, Harwich Port, West Harwich, East Harwich, Pleasant Lake
Chatham sits at the elbow of the Cape and takes the brunt of nor'easters coming off the Atlantic. Wind-rated roofing, well-flashed windows and durable trim make a real difference here, and the town has its own historic business district review.
Villages: Chatham Village, North Chatham, South Chatham, West Chatham
Orleans is the gateway to the Outer Cape and part of it lies in the Old King's Highway Regional Historic District. Homes near Nauset and Pleasant Bay deal with strong wind and salt spray.
Villages: Orleans Village, East Orleans, South Orleans
Eastham borders the Cape Cod National Seashore, and many homes are year-round capes and ranches with exposure to wind from both the bay and the ocean side.
Wellfleet has a lot of seasonal and second homes that sit empty part of the year, so small roof or flashing leaks can go unnoticed for months. Regular inspections before and after winter are worth it.
Truro is one of the most exposed towns on the Cape, with houses on high dunes and open ground. Siding, decks and roofs here need fasteners and materials chosen for constant wind and salt.
Provincetown has dense, older housing stock and its own historic district commission, so exterior projects often involve careful repair of original trim, clapboard and shingles. Tight lots also make staging and material deliveries part of the plan.
