Roofing, Siding & Remodeling in Truro, MA
Best Deal Home Group does roofing, siding, decks and remodeling for homes in Truro and North Truro, from Beach Point and the Pamet to the high ground over the Atlantic. Truro is one of the most exposed towns on the Cape and more than half of it lies in the National Seashore, so materials and house size are both planned carefully.

Working in Truro
What Truro homes need from a contractor
Truro houses sit on dunes, bluffs and open ground with little between them and the weather. Constant wind and salt mean siding, decks and roofs here need corrosion-resistant fasteners, careful flashing and materials chosen for exposure rather than looks alone.
About two thirds of Truro's homes are seasonal, the highest share in the area, and the zoning bylaw describes Beach Point as an area of traditional vacation cottages. Many of these houses need work done while the owners are away, and a roof that will hold through a winter no one is there to watch.
Truro controls house size in two ways. In the Seashore District, gross floor area is limited by right to 3,600 square feet on 3 acres, adjusted by 200 square feet per acre, and in the Residential District a separate cap applies. Site plan review is required for larger additions, so we confirm the numbers before design.

FAQ
Questions from Truro homeowners
How large can I build in Truro's Seashore District?
By right, total gross floor area for the house and accessory buildings is limited to 3,600 square feet on a 3 acre lot, plus or minus 200 square feet per acre. A special permit can raise that to 4,600 square feet on 3 acres, and no further. Site plan review applies to larger additions and new or rebuilt houses.
Does Truro have a historic district?
Truro has no local historic district for exterior review. The Truro Historical Commission reviews demolition of historically significant buildings, such as those at least 75 years old, with a delay of up to twelve months.
What siding lasts on a Truro dune house?
White cedar shingles, fiber cement and PVC trim all work when installed over a good weather barrier with stainless or hot-dipped fasteners. The wind does more damage through gaps and failed flashing than through the siding itself.
How do building permits work in Truro?
The Truro Building Department at Town Hall Road issues permits, filed online through OpenGov. In the Seashore District the town also notifies the Secretary of the Interior of building permit applications. We prepare the filings for our projects.
