Natural or pre-finished cedar shingles?
Natural shingles weather to silver gray on their own, but unevenly at first, since the sides that get the most sun and rain change faster. Pre-finished shingles come stained or primed from the factory for a uniform color from day one.
Do I need historic approval to re-side with cedar?
In the Old King's Highway district and the towns with local historic districts, siding changes visible from the street are reviewed. Replacing cedar with cedar is often handled with a faster exemption certificate; Orleans, for example, lists cedar siding among its exemptions.
How long does cedar siding last on Cape Cod?
